The Find

A large auditorium is filled with some 300,000 archaeologist from all over the solar system. Vid-links to every part of the universal net have been established to witness the events about to unfold. Individuals, top in their respective fields, have gathered here today in the year 99,999. The beginning of a new millennium has brought them together at this place to hear about the find. The find will change the way ancient man has been viewed.

The speaker is Ke-ith dru-je, a renowned archaeologist in the history and study of 20th century man. His findings are part of schoolbook learning centers across the universal net. Having devoted only 125 years of his young life to the study and understanding of prehistoric man, Ke-ith has accomplished what has taken other centuries. I refer to Ke-ith as ‘he’, yet humans of this time have long since shed male and female classifications.

"I am speaking here today in front of you to present an object found in the Northern Hemisphere of old Earth. Our dig was in the Northern, Middle region of the 3rd continent, which in the 20th century was known as the United States. The object dates to the late 20th century, at the time when they too were about to enter a new millennium.

Colleagues, I stand here before you today to inform you that these creatures, our ancestors, were not unlike ourselves in many of their daily rituals, appearance and their method of procreation. I am somewhat disturbed, and yet, amazed that a culture so primitive as theirs was as evolved as we in our efficient way to propagate our species.

Creatures of the 20th century did not indulge in physical relationships for producing offspring as we had once thought. Their bodies had by this time evolved into the autonomous creatures that we are today. By the late 20th century our ancestors were no longer divided into male and female of the species. I make this claim based upon the find."

He pulls out the vessel and pauses. The audience gazes upon this item with great interest.

“Note the shape and size of the vessel. Clearly a vessel like this could only be used for one purpose, and one purpose alone; the storage and delivery of the life creating embryonic fluids.

My colleagues, you will have to renounce your beliefs in the age of our creative methods for we have been using a vessel such as this for over 90,000 years. Not the 20,000 we once thought.

I base part of my findings upon the fitting found around the opening at the top of the vessel. As you will see, the opening mates perfectly with the life giving port all of us have on our bodies.”

He demonstrates how easily the vessel screws into the body port. The awe and chatter amongst the viewers can be heard as Ke-ith removes the vessel and continues.

"Notice the vessel’s translucent white appearance seems to glow as light reflects off of it. This coloration, I believe signifies the religious purpose of the vessel. The creator is often seen masked in white light. Watch as I add embryonic fluids to the container. "

Ke-ith adds a clear fluid and milky white substance to the container. When combined the substance begins to glow through the container. More gasps and chatter can be heard coming from the audience. He waits for the audience to quite down.

"And finally, there are words molded into the container which, I believe, were part of a chant the user would say during the implantation stage. We have little knowledge of the type of written language used by these early humans. So much was lost during the purification1 GALLON age. These words are shown on the viewscreen. I leave you now to ponder these words and my findings and to reflect upon the history we once thought we knew.

The words on the screen read: "1 Gallon."
